Frequently Asked Questions

We hope to answer all of the most frequently asked questions here.  Please note workshops are primarily for groups of 6-12 people.  If you would like to discuss your needs with Susie please fill in the form on the Contact Us page and she will get back to you ASAP.

How do I book?

Can I book a workshop for my work collegues / friends?

Susie Ray Workshops are aimed at groups of between 6-12 and Susie will adapt the workshops to suit your groups needs.  Please fill in the form on the Contact Us page or contact Susie by phone to discuss your requirements.

Do you cater for individuals?

The workshops are designed to be enjoyed as groups and for practicalities the minimum group size is six. We can certainly keep a note of people that would like to participate in a workshop as an individual and let you know if any opportunities arise but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee dates or availability. Please also keep an eye on our website and social media for details of special, one-off workshops or sign up for our regular newsletter on the Contact Us page

Do we need to be good at Art?

Absolutely not! Susie thrives on being able to introduce those who aren't typically creative to her world of creativity, so do not let anything hold you back! Those who are arty will equally enjoy the experience as they are encouraged to push their boundaries and experiment with new techniques.

What do we need to bring?

All materials will be provided and are included in the workshop price. The only thing that you need to bring with you is an open mind and bags of enthusiasm. If you are joining us for a craft workshop, please feel free to bring any coastal finds that are meaningful to you and these can be included in your pieces of art.

What should we wear?

Aprons will be provided but it’s a good idea to wear something that you’re not too precious about as art can sometimes be a little messy – it’s all part of the fun!

Will refreshments be available?

Our workshops are free flowing so you can take break whenever you fancy, it helps creativity. A range of drinks – tea, coffee, freshly infused water – will be available and there’s always a delicious selection of homemade cakes and biscuits on offer – you’ve got to try our homemade shortbread!

Of course, you are also more than welcome to bring your own refreshments but the workshops are designed to take care of everything so be our guest and let us look after you. If you have any dietary requirements, please just let us know.

Can you organise a nice lunch or dinner?

You are always welcome to extend your workshop by including lunch or an evening meal. We work with excellent local chefs and are pleased to arrange bespoke menus that are as creative and as exciting as our workshops.

Can we keep what we make?

Absolutely. Fish rubbings, crafty items and paintings are all yours to take home. You’ll be so proud of your creations that you’ll want to show them off in your home or give them to a loved one as a personalised present. If there’s a particular use that you have in mind please discuss it with Susie and she will tailor the workshop accordingly or advise you on the next steps.

Do you offer any other workshops beside those listed?

We have lots of workshops in the pipeline with book folding and Christmas themed workshops coming soon. If there is anything in particular that you have in mind, please get in touch to discuss.

Are the workshops suitable for children?

We love children and love their creativity even more but our workshops are designed to be an escape. We want our guests to be completely relaxed and creatively absorbed and so we have a minimum age requirement of 16 years.

Is parking available?

We have parking for approximately six cars outside the studio. If you are joining us as part of a larger group please try to car share.
